MEMENTO VIVERE

Over time, my mother has collected items that belonged to her aging and deceased family members. My concept is heavily influenced by memento mori artwork. However my piece is not intended to be a reminder of death, but instead motivation to remember the lives of those who have died. Memories and lives can persist through objects. This collection is purely sentimental. It is a visual manifestation of my mother’s memories. When she dies, much of it will belong to me. I never knew most of the people who owned the objects before. My documentation of this collection is what I will keep to immortalize my mother’s memories.
